Spins respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
Information we collect
We may collect the following information when you use Spins:
- Account information such as username, email address, and profile details
- Audio tracks, images, and metadata that you upload
- Engagement data such as likes, plays, comments, reviews, and follows
- Device and usage information for performance, analytics, and security
- Push notification tokens to deliver notifications
Payment and financial information
When you purchase Spins Coins or use the cash-out feature, the following additional information may be collected and processed:
- Transaction records including Coin purchases, review payments, and cash-out history
- Coin balance and transaction metadata
- Stripe account identifiers (for users who set up payouts)
Spins does not directly collect, store, or process your credit card numbers, bank account details, or other sensitive financial information. Payment processing is handled entirely by trusted third parties:
- In-app purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store
- Cash-out payouts are processed by Stripe
When you set up payouts through Stripe, you provide your identity and banking information directly to Stripe. Spins receives only your Stripe account identifier and payout status — we do not have access to your bank account numbers, Social Security number, or identity documents.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Provide core app functionality and personalized experiences
- Host and stream uploaded audio content
- Enable social features such as feeds, comments, and notifications
- Process Coin transactions, review payments, and cash-out requests
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and manipulation of the Coin economy
- Comply with legal and tax reporting obligations
- Improve app performance, reliability, and safety
Third-party services
Spins uses trusted third-party services to operate the app, including:
- Firebase — authentication, database, storage, analytics, notifications
- Algolia — search functionality
- ACRCloud — audio fingerprinting for copyright detection
- Stripe — payout processing for the cash-out feature
- Apple — in-app purchase processing
These services process data only as necessary to provide their functionality. Each third-party service is governed by its own privacy policy:
Data sharing
We do not sell your personal data. Your information may be shared in the following limited circumstances:
- With payment processors (Apple, Stripe) to facilitate purchases and payouts
- With tax authorities if required by law (e.g. IRS reporting for payouts exceeding applicable thresholds)
- With law enforcement or government agencies when required by legal process
- To protect the rights, safety, or property of Spins, our users, or the public
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with notice to users)
Transaction data retention
Financial transaction records, including Coin purchase history, review payment records, and cash-out history, may be retained for a minimum period as required by applicable tax and financial regulations, even after account deletion. This is necessary to comply with legal obligations and to resolve disputes.
Non-financial personal data is handled according to the data retention and deletion policies described below.
Data retention and deletion
You may delete your account at any time from Profile → Settings in the app. When you do, your personal data and uploaded content will be removed from our active systems, except:
- Transaction records that must be retained for legal or tax compliance
- Data that has been anonymized and aggregated for analytics
- Information necessary to resolve pending disputes or investigations
Security
We use industry-standard security practices to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest for sensitive information. Financial operations such as Coin balance changes and cash-out processing are performed exclusively through secure server-side functions and cannot be manipulated from the client app.
However, no system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. If you become aware of any unauthorized access to your account, please contact us immediately at support@spins.dev.
Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements)
- Object to or restrict certain processing of your data
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format

Children's privacy
Spins does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Users must be at least 18 years old to make purchases or receive payouts.
If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete it promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@spins.dev.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. For material changes affecting how we handle payment or financial data, we will notify users through the app. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of any updates.
